The Three Tuns Pentanque team has been playing since the 1980s. Individual members have changed over the years but three or four of the existing team have been playing since 1998.

The team play in the New Forest Petanque League where there are currently 16 teams. Each team plays the other teams once in a season which commences in May and lasts until September.

During the season the team meets at the pub on Tuesdays for practice and on Thursdays for the matches. The league matches are played in accordance with the general Petanque association rules and only those players signed on with the league are eligible to play. We also have our own internal competition that is open to anybody.

The league comprises teams from Exbury to Wimborne and from New Milton to Pitton near Salisbury. Each team can play a minimum of six and a maximum of twelve players in each game. The games comprise two games of triples (three players from each side) and three games of doubles (2 players from each side).
